For pups over a year old, and those with a rough history

You may notice that your pup is more stubborn, bigger, stronger, harder to control during walks, impulsive, overstimulated, or destructive. As your pup matures, some of these issues will escalate, leaving you feeling frustrated and defeated.

From the ground up, I will help your pup build a strong obedience foundation. They will grow in confidence, have solid focus, and will be able to replicate what they have learned with me into real life situations. Walk your pup with confidence, and experience what a bonding experience it can be!

This program is also an excellent choice for recently adopted pups who are fearful, lack confidence, have poor social skills, or lack obedience skills in general. Trauma, neglect, and long-term kenneled pups carry lifelong PTSD, just like humans. I have the time, patience, and experience necessary to help your pup emotionally regulate themselves. Get your new pup started on the right track by investing into their training. If you enroll within 2 months of adoption, a discount will be applied!

Training Courses

Crate Training

Your pup will be crate trained! Not only will crate training teach them independence, but they will learn to find comfort in their crate. This is an important skill for your pup to learn, as they may need to be crated during emergencies, boarding, vet clinics, grooming, or transportation. It will be easier on your pup if they are not stressed during these events.

Potty Training

Potty training an older puppy can be difficult, and requires a lot of time and patience, which is something a lot of pet owners don't have. It goes hand in hand with crate and leash training, by creating a routine for potty breaks and preventing accidents in the house. Pee pads will not be used. Instead, they will learn how to communicate by ringing the door potty training bells.

Socialization

Your pup will be boarding in a setting where other dogs will co-exist in a home environment. They will learn proper playstyles, body language, and boundaries. I will be supervising 100% of the time, stepping in to correct and redirect undesired behaviors, such as growling, jumping, and nipping. Your pup will learn from the house manners that older, balanced dogs display here.

Foundational Obedience

Your pup will learn "sit", "stay", "come", "lay down", "wait", "off"(objects), "up"(onto objects), "paws up"(front paws on object), "sit pretty", "ok"(release), "leave it", name recognition, focus training, and recall commands.

All of these commands build a strong foundation that help form the other key skills in my B&T program.

House Manners

Your pup will learn appropriate household behaviors, such as settling calmly, chewing on assigned items only, and proper use of furniture. They will learn to respect boundaries set in place, such as off limit areas, invading personal space, and curbing rude or pushy behaviors. They will model appropriate behaviors by observing the balanced dogs they share space with.

Leash Manners

Your pup will learn basic leash manners. Beginning with getting comfortable with a leash and harness, they will soon associate their gear with outside time. They will learn how to walk properly without heavy pulling, and how to take directions both verbally, and through leash tension. Our walks will begin in the neighborhood, then parks, stores, and then downtown locations. The goal is to have your dog obeying commands and walking properly in any environment without being stressed out.

Grooming Desensitization

Your pup will be desensitized the touching of their feet, tail, mouth, and ears. This is extremely important for them to learn in order for vet and groom appointments to be comfortable. Baths will be given weekly, followed by a massage towel dry, to ensure they have a pleasant experience that can be replicated in their home.

Emotional Regulation

Some pups need extra help with regulating their emotions. Clingy pups need guidance towards learning independence and personal space. Overstimulated pups need help with calming techniques to help overcome overly exciting events. Fearful pups need extra encouragement and lots of patience in order to overcome triggers and build confidence. I will guarantee that your pup will come home a better version of themselves.

Public Socialization

Your pup will learn how to socialize in public while maintaining a calm demeanor. This doesn't necessarily mean your pup will greet every person or dog that they cross paths with. Instead, they will be rewarded for neutral behavior. If affection is a motivator, they will be allowed to greet strangers as long as they are able to remain calm. Visiting stores and walking your dog in public spaces shouldn't be frustrating or embarrassing. You both deserve to enjoy the basic pleasures of owning a dog!

Thresholds

Your pup will learn to politely wait at thresholds, such as house doors, car doors, gates, and store entrances/exits. This plays a role in building impulse control and preventing bolting behavior. Your pup will learn how to wait calmly until given the "ok" to pass.

Car Sickness

Your pup will become desensitized to car rides. It's important to know that sedatives are only a Band-Aid for anxiety, those pills are not resolving the root cause of the problem. If your pup paces, cries, drools, defecates, or vomits every time they ride in your vehicle, it is time to address their anxiety issues. I will work towards car rides being enjoyable for both you and your pup!
